Apple patent annulled "slide to unlock"

The Court of Justice has annulled the German Federal Patent "slide to unlock" Apple, saying it does not give the user a technological solution, but this is simply an extra utilities.

Apple recently sentenced by a court in Germany abolished patented "slide to unlock" for unlocking method that is not important enough to be protected. Thus, this ruling did go against a decision by a court before.

Patented "slide to unlock" has marks EP1964022 and granted to Apple in 2010. Apple once sued Motorola in 2012 (the time when Motorola was still owned by Google) on this patent, and is a Munich court dealing winner. Motorola then filed an appeal. The lawsuit has since been postponed to await the verdict of the court.

According to Deutsche Welle, the site discovered the first ruling, the Federal Court of Justice of Germany (Federal Court of Justice), Apple's patent does not conform to the requirements of Europe, namely that it does not provide users with a technology solution, but this is simply an extra utilities only. The court also said that Neonode (a Swedish company) have developed the "slide to unlock" before Apple introduced the iPhone.

The decision of the court is likely to cause impact for legal battle between Motorola and Apple in the future.
